Within a company, transparency between managers and employees is one of the fundamental points for the smooth running of the company. One activity can be very important to improve this communication: visual management.
Visual management can be applied in various sectors, and its use is quite common in logistics, mainly so that all employees are aware of how their work is progressing and also of the company's overall progress.
Does your company use visual management techniques? No?! Then this article is for you!
Today, on the Bertolini Storage Systems blog, we're going to explain what visual management is and its impact on logistics.
Welcome and have a great reading!

What is visual management?

Gone are the days when only managers, directors, and the highest-ranking positions within a company needed to know the metrics and returns that a...
The company provides this information. Today, it is essential that all employees are aware of how the company is progressing.
And this transfer of information is precisely what forms the basis of visual management. To ensure all this information reaches employees, you can choose from several models, such as tables, images, graphs, and checklists, always prioritizing visual materials.
Visual management is not about performance reports, where all functions and deliverables are presented, but rather about practical and visual representations to facilitate understanding for everyone.

4 tips for creating a visual management model in logistics.

Using visual management requires close attention to detail, as well as an understanding of what should be prioritized and what should not.
Here are four tips we've compiled on how to create a visual management model in logistics.

Tip one: Know what should be presented.

The first step is to identify what is truly relevant and important to communicate to the team. This will ensure easy understanding and also demonstrate the importance of team members being engaged and following these activities.

Tip two: Have clear goals.

Developing and constantly updating goals is part of visual management. This is especially true if they are communicated directly to employees, with the aim of improving the company's performance and the logistics sector as a whole.
A good example is setting a fixed number X of orders that must be invoiced and shipped daily. When I realize that this number can be increased, I do the calculations and quickly inform the department, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Tip three: Invest in training.

Qualifying the work team is a fundamental point for the smooth running of the logistics sector, and also to guarantee efficient visual management. After all, it will be useless to publicize the company's results if they are not capable of solving the problems.
Team training should be ongoing to ensure the best results and make communication more efficient.

Tip four: Choose a way to promote it.

After gathering all the necessary information, setting goals, and starting to invest in training, it's time to choose a method of promotion to ensure effective communication.
Some companies opt for a bulletin board, others for daily email updates to employees to inform them of progress. In some cases, the choice is for monitors that constantly update the goals.

What is the impact of visual management on logistics?

In the previous topic, we discussed goal setting and understanding what should or should not be communicated, and these two points are fundamental to ensuring greater efficiency in the logistics sector through visual management.
Now you might be wondering: So, what are the main benefits my company will gain?
– To improve the understanding of the progress of logistics processes;
– To ensure greater efficiency in deliveries;
– To achieve assertive and complete communication with the logistics team;
– Understand where you can improve and invest more;
– To speed up responses and decision-making.
These are five of the numerous benefits that your company's logistics sector will gain from implementing visual management, and of course, all of this will reflect on the company as a whole, since all sectors integrate to guarantee quality in deliveries.
