What are pick up points?
Customers are increasingly demanding and looking for the best shopping experience. When we talk about online commerce, for example, this involves more than just the logistics process. The delivery of goods is one of the key elements and can make or break a company.

It is within this scenario that the pick up points. In Brazil, this trend is still in its infancy — but it is a success in other countries. According to a study by Metapack, in Germany, this delivery method had already been used by 41% of e-commerce customers in 2015. In the Netherlands, this number is higher than 45%.

It works simply. A group of partner stores or establishments have a space where the consumer can pick up the merchandise purchased online. This gives the consumer the freedom to choose the best day and time to make this “withdrawal”.

Benefits of pick up
By adopting the strategy of pick up, the manager will notice a series of benefits in the company's processes and financial health:

Easy implementation
Without a doubt, the main advantage is the ease of implementation. The strategy barely interferes with the operation, except at the time of dispatch. Instead of the delivery going to the consumer's home, it goes to the selected pick-up point.

Greater efficiency in deliveries
Carriers also benefit from the pick up points. After all, they reduce expenses such as fuel, as they make shorter trips. The risk of unforeseen events, such as accidents or theft of goods, is also minimized.

Furthermore, there is no more frustration of missing a delivery because the customer is not at home. On the contrary: the consumer is responsible for the collection, going to the location at the time he or she deems most convenient.

Facilities for reverse logistics
Since 2010, with Law No. 12,305, companies have been required to have reverse logistics plans. In other words, products that the customer returns because they decide not to purchase the product, because the product arrived incorrectly or with a defect.

Instead of the consumer having to go to a post office or the carrier having to pick it up at the residence, the customer returns the product to the pick up where the withdrawal took place. With this attitude, reverse logistics costs also fall.

With this information, we hope you have understood what the pick up pointsThis is a trend that is here to stay, so it is important to study how your company can benefit from the strategy.
