Discover the advantages that intralogistics provides for your warehouse

  • Published in: 11/08/2022

Every segment has challenges inherent to its work routine. These challenges, in many cases, can be described as increased demand for specialized services, lack of qualified professionals, suppliers who do not meet established deadlines, and so on.
There are also challenges involving internal flows, which intralogistics is responsible for solving.

THE intralogistics or “in-house logistics” is responsible for rethinking the operational flows of a warehouse, distribution center (DC) and manufacturing units. This activity controls the entire flow of material storage, from management to shipping.
Thus, the objective is to optimize, integrate, automate and manage the logistical flow of material goods and information within a company's operating model, ensuring more efficient delivery.
In this way, it works so that everything is aligned and as organized as possible, providing operational advantages, some of which are presented below:

Increase in productivity

Intralogistics makes it possible to implement various functions within the warehouse, resulting in improved productivity, as it speeds up processes and ensures maximum use of resources. This means that the necessary plans can be put into action to make the best use of the employees involved in the entire logistics process.
In an automated operation, the information system within a distribution center is one of the most important points, with which we can have real-time control of the operation, ensuring that item separation rates are high and that separation orders are distributed to each operator actively. This means that, with each completed process, a new operation order is automatically triggered, taking into account the best route to be taken and in the shortest time spent.

Cost reduction

Another great advantage for the manager after implementing the intralogistics concept is having a great ally when it comes to cost reduction policy, precisely because it will naturally cause superfluous and unnecessary expenses to be identified and demonstrated in cost spreadsheets, helping managers to better coordinate the stages, resulting in savings in the operation.
To be able to process order picking orders at a lower cost, for example, it is necessary to implement technology in the operation to allow picking orders to occur at a lower cost per operation.
To optimize spending, it is necessary to have investments in processes, mainly in intralogistics.

Optimized infrastructure

By combining intralogistics, procedures will occur through warehouse management software or WMS (Warehouse Management System).

Therefore, the tools used in solutions of this type facilitate the identification of failures and the need for improvement opportunities, allowing the optimization of the company's internal infrastructure to take place.
To define an intralogistics project, a careful analysis of the operational data is very important, taking into account and understanding how the following areas work:

- Receipt;
– Supply;
– Separation;
– Refueling;
– Conference;
– Expedition.

With all these processes analyzed, we will be able to assist and technically support layout concepts for intralogistics and obtain the best process dimensioning.
The analysis will take into account the SKU output frequency and profitability by separate SKUs. In this case, called “Double” analysis, where the information provided will allow for “Double Analysis of the ABC Curve”.

Increased competitiveness

With all of the above points in tune and with greater control over material processes, the company naturally becomes more competitive in the market. This is because not only will customer service be provided with greater agility and reliability, but the company will also be able to apply more attractive conditions to the prices of its products and use its resources intelligently, investing in innovation.
Therefore, to be competitive in the market it is necessary to deliver in a shorter time, with greater accuracy and without damaging the product.
