The palletizing scheme is considered by engineers and operators to be the more efficient for storage systems, ensuring practicality and safety for the most diverse applications. It can be used in warehouses, storerooms and ports, the system optimizes logistics, as long as it is applied correctly according to each demand.
In this article, we will learn about the different types of pallets e indicar quais são os melhores para cada operação. Boa leitura!
Discover the different types of pallets!
The pallet is a platform or platform made of wood, plastic or metal with the purpose of organizing the storage of products and facilitating their movement and transportation. The Brazilian market uses the standard known as PBR pallet, whose main characteristics are governed by the standard NBR 9192 – Wooden Pallets.
This pallet gave rise to other variants, such as plastic and steel (metal) versions. Some characteristics are shared, such as the dimensions (1000 x 1200mm) and the way they are used in structures. Wooden pallets are the most common, due to their ease of manufacture and resistance. Plastic and metal pallets occupy more specific niches.

Wooden pallets
These are the most commonly found and used in operations to organize and transport items and boxes. These types of pallets are made from eucalyptus or pine wood and can be made and distributed in practically any urban center.
Plastic pallets
They are very common in the food industry, as they allow for washed and disinfected more easily. These same characteristics allow its use in industries where the raw material requires a high degree of purity.
Metal pallets
Metal pallets allow for great versatility of use, due to their superior resistance and ease of being manufactured in special formats. They are very commonly used with accessories such as sides and supports to support the load.
Disposable pallet
There is also the disposable pallet, also known as the One Way Pallet. These are less resistant types of pallets, but strong enough to ship products that do not need to be returned. In these cases, the system is not reused.
This type of operation includes the cost of the pallet, which is cheaper than traditional pallets, in the cost of the product. At the same time, it eliminates the need for return freight for the pallets, known as reverse logistics.

Pallet market
The distribution and storage operations of almost 100% of supermarkets in Brazil occur through the use of pallets, as do many other industries. Thus, the pallet market finds high demand for pallets of all types.
The 1200 x 1000mm pallet standard used in Brazil is widely used worldwide. It is even recommended by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN). In Europe, the use of the Europallet, measuring 800 x 1200mm, is also very common.
